Last Sunday, I had a cosplay shoot with friends. My model, Akire, was cosplaying Ayame from Tenchu Fatal Shadows. The mood of her character is dark and more on being stealth. Shooting in broad daylight, I had to loose some of the available light to give it a night time like of setting.
Lucky enough I was brought all my flashes to the shoot. I decided to skip on the radio triggers and use the CLS technology of Nikon. I was able to go beyond the 1/200 sync speed of my camera. Also since she was climbing trees for the shoot, I had to get my lights high as well. Since I was using my SB-700 as the commander. All my exposure adjustments are done in my camera. I didn't need to bring down my light and adjust it.
We started late maybe around 3PM. And we were able to finish by 6pm.

Cosplay Photographer's Cosplay Contest
Before 2012 ended, a friend of mine showed me a link from Cosplay Photographer's website. There was a photo contest where the winning entry would get a tablet as a prize.
I submitted one of my entries that made it into the top 20 of the Snapshot project last Cosmania.
Anyway, I saw the entries that were submitted in this contest. Not really sure if all the entries in the link are all those who submitted. Or if there was a pre-judging that happened. Still, I'm glad that I was able to qualify.
Here's my entry. http://cosplayphotographers.com/contests/2012-photo-of-the-year/paolo-panganiban-scout-from-dragona-online/

Failure
Failure. Failure is when people focuses more on the bokeh of my shot rather than my subject.
New Tumblr Photo-blog
After acquiring a danboard figure last AFA, I decided to create a tumblr site that will contain just pictures of it. The site is linked to my instagram account and would pretty much be the source of my tumblr entries.
Check it out if you have time.

Hong Kong Vacation
I'm about to leave for Hong Kong for a family vacation next week. Makes me think about shooting cosplay/portrait abroad. I wonder how's it like to do those stuff.
- Unfamiliar Place
- Different customs
- Language Barrier
- etc etc.
It's one of the reasons why I'm aiming for the AFA 2012 at Singapore. It's going to be on November and I'm pretty excited.
Back to the Hong Kong trip. This maybe late notice, but if you're interested to work with me for a fun shoot. Please, please PLEASE, message me here. I think I have a free day during our trip.
It's always nice to meet new people from new places.

So with the CLS and high sync speed you were able to kill the ambient light a bit? I always thought that high sync speed cuts down the power of the flash by a lot.
